In 1976, restored oil-burning CPR locomotive 1201 replaced the coal-fired 1057 for excursion trips to Wakefield, Quebec. Shown here crossing the Rideau River at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ont. sometime in July 1976.

A truncated version of the tourist run continued operating from Hull to Wakefield until 1990. In 1992 the service was revived but the CPR equipment was replaced with a Swedish locomotive and passenger cars. No doubt it made economic sense, but at the time it seemed odd that we were maintaining another country's railway heritage rather than our own. In 2011 washouts damaged the track and the tourist excursions ended.
